This year’s theme is “Giants of Joplin” and the event will feature a truck parade on Friday night when the SuperRigs competitors will travel from the convention center to downtown Joplin. The drivers will stage their rigs, turn on their lights, and play music to kick off the festivities.

The event will include judging of the annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs lights contest, a fireworks display, and a live performance by trucker and country-music artist Tony Justice.

“The return of Shell Rotella SuperRigs to Joplin, which has a strong history in trucking and transportation, provides a great opportunity to see the beautiful working trucks that come each year from the U.S. and Canada,” said Megan Pino, global brand manager, Shell Rotella. “It's an honor for Shell Rotella to recognize the accomplishments of so many hard-working truckers who are dedicated to keeping our economy moving-- in the best-looking rigs on the road.”

The Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition is a beauty contest for actively working trucks.  Owner-operator truckers from across the U.S. and Canada will compete for cash and prizes in excess of $25,000.

Twelve drivers will be selected to have their trucks featured in the 2017 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar. Also, entrants will be awarded with a gift package valued at more than $50, while supplies last.

Trucks entered in the SuperRigs truck competition will be judged by industry professionals who work for major trucking publications or broadcast companies.

Judges score the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail/finish, originality, and workmanship. In total, 24 working trucks receive awards for categories such as Best of Show, Tractor, Tractor/Trailer Combination, and Classic.

The SuperRigs truck competition will feature events for drivers and their families each day and night including games, a vendor area, live music, a beer garden, and the Shell Rotella Road Show. On Thursday, attendees can enjoy music throughout the day and an autograph session with Tony Justice as well as a free movie screening at night. Friday will feature more music and a free contestant lunch cooked on the Rotella T6 BBQ grill. Staging for the truck parade and festivities in downtown Joplin will begin at 5:00 p.m.

The vendor pavilion area will feature a variety of vendors, presenting contestants the opportunity to learn more about their products. Vendors in attendance will include: SAMS Club, MAC Trailer, Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Chrome Shop Mafia and others.
