Used Class 8 truck sales were mixed in November, decreasing 23% from the previous month but gaining slightly for the year, according to ACT Research.

Dealer sales volumes increased 4% compared with Nov. 2014 and had a 1% increase in year-to-date comparisons. Average mileage of used Class 8 trucks were down 7% from last year and are expected to stay low.

“We expect the YTD mileage numbers, now 8% lower than 2014, to remain low, as new truck buyers have shortened their trade cycles,” said Steve Tam, ACT’s vice president-commercial vehicle sector.

The age of used trucks were essentially flat compared with last year, increasing 1% to an average 91 months while the average price fell 1% month-to-month.
