CarrierWeb, a truck mobile communications and telematics provider, has launched a website dedicated to providing food haulers with information and analysis about the Food Safety Modernization Act.

The website, www.FSMAfacts.com, will deliver timely updates and analysis for shippers and carriers on current and upcoming FSMA regulations. It also offers information on modern technologies and operational best practices to stay compliant.

The Food Safety Modernization Act was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama in 2011, giving the Food and Drug Administration jurisdiction over the food transportation industry.

As a result, in 2014, FDA proposed a rule placing stringent obligations on shippers, carriers and receivers with standards for proper food transportation and storage conditions.

A final rule is set to be published on March 31, 2016. Updates and other rules impacting shippers and carriers will be provided on the website, said CarrierWeb.

“This sweeping legislation impacts all food grade transportation,” said R. Fenton-May, chairman of CarrierWeb. “Very soon, shippers and receivers will only be using food haulers that are able to fully comply with the new FMSA regulations. This website will serve as a valuable resource for staying ahead of the curve.”
