The Environmental Protection Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will hold a public hearing in Chicago for the proposed phase 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles.

EPA and NHTSA will receive comments on their joint proposed rules as well as NHTSA’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the rules. The session will also provide interested parties the opportunity to present data, views or arguments concerning the proposal.

Christopher Grundler, director of EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality will attend the hearing along with other officials from EPA and NHTSA.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. CST on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015. It is taking place at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel in Chicago and a call-in line will be available starting at 8:45 CST. It will conclude when all present parties have had their opportunity to speak.

EPA may ask clarifying questions during the presentations, but will not respond to them at the hearing.

Written statements and supporting information submitted during the comment period will be considered with the same weight as any oral comments and supporting information presented at the public hearing.

Written comments must be received by the last day of the comment period, Sept. 17, 2015.

EPA and NHTSA will also hold a separate hearing in Long Beach, Calif., on Aug. 16th. Details can be found here
