The number of used Class 8 trucks sold rose by 6% to 2,643 units in June, according to a report from ACT Research.

The average age of Class 8 trucks was flat for the month, while the average miles of sold used trucks slipped by 2.2% compared with May. The average sale price rose by 3.3% year-over-year, which is in line with ACT’s expectation of 5-10% growth in 2015.

“The used truck market continues to be strong, exhibiting high prices,” said Steve Tam, vice president-commercial vehicle sector with ACT. “Volumes in the auction and wholesale markets indicated very strong sales with increases of 113% and 13% month over month, respectively.”

The retail side of the used truck market was flat month-to-month in June, but Tam added that ACT’s guidance on full year 2015 sales would remain unchanged.

The latest numbers were part of the State of the Industry: U.S. Classes 3-8 Used Trucks which provides data on the average selling price, miles and age based on a sample of industry data.
