A $50,000 reward is being offered for information in the theft of $4 million in gold Sunday evening from a truck on I-95 in North Carolina.

Guards working for Transvalue Inc. of Miami had mechanical problems and pulled off the highway in eastern North Carolina about 6:30 p.m. They told police they were surprised by three armed men driving a white van. The bandits reportedly ordered the guards to lie on the ground, tied their hands behind their backs and made them walk into the nearby woods.

The load was being transported from Miami to Massachusetts.

Transvalue is offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrests of the suspects responsible or recovery of the stolen property, according to published reports.

According to its website, Transvalue has an "extensive domestic network allowing us to offer armored overnight shipping of valuables to most major cities in the U.S."
