The less-than-truckload services provider Saia Inc. has purchased LinkEx Inc. an asset-light, third-party logistics provider based in Dallas, Texas.

Founded in 2002, LinkEx has approximately 50 employees and generated revenue of $36 million in 2014. The purchase price of $25 million is subject, in part, to meeting growth expectations, according to Saia, and is expected to increase company earnings by approximately 2 cents per share each quarter of the year.

LinkEx provides customers with a wide range of services including supply chain design, domestic and international transportation, warehousing and final mile services.

"The acquisition of LinkEx is a nice fit for Saia in our effort to grow our portfolio of services in the asset-light market. I am pleased to have the senior management team from LinkEx onboard and excited that they will be assuming leadership responsibilities and setting a course for the continued growth of our asset-light product offering," said Saia President and CEO Rick O'Dell.

Saia also offers non-asset truckload, expedited and logistics services from its headquarters in Georgia.
