Women In Trucking is accepting nominations for its Image Team through Jan. 31. The Image team will be announced at the Salute to Women Behind the Wheel event at the Mid-America Trucking Show on March 28.

Drivers chosen for the team will be the face of Women In Trucking, attending major truck shows, writing articles, giving interviews and speaking about the trucking industry. The selected drivers will also serve as mentors for new Image Team members.

To be eligible for the Image Team, the nominee must have a valid commercial drivers licese and be employed as a driver. The driver must have an outstanding safety record and be able to speak convincingly about her commitment to safety.

“Women are still an anomaly as drivers and the media is often intrigued to learn more about the female drivers who are perceived as doing a ‘man’s job’,” says Ellen Voie, president and CEO of WIT. “These drivers will break that stereotype and will be role models for the women who enter the trucking industry in the future.”

Women In Trucking is a nonprofit organization established to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. Membership is not limited to women.
