Ruan Transportation Management Systems CEO Steve Chapman is retiring from the company on Dec. 31 and will be replaced by current President and Chief Operating Officer Ben McLean.

Chapman spent more than five years in the position, having stepped into the role when Executive Chairman John Ruan III was beginning his term as chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, according to the company. Chapman will remain a member of the company’s board of directors.

“Not only has Steve moved our company forward in so many ways, but he has proven to be an invaluable leader to the Ruan team, our customers and key stakeholders,” said John Ruan III.

McLean is part of the third generation of the Ruan Family and will report to John Ruan III who will remain as executive chairman.

“My primary goal from the moment I arrived at Ruan was to position this great company for future success,” said Chapman. ”The last two years my focus has been on mentoring Ben McLean to lead the company. As I transition this role over to Ben, I’m so proud of all that we’ve accomplished, and Mr. Ruan and I are confident the company is in good hands and positioned extremely well for the future.”

Ruan, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, is an $807 million company with 5,200 employees in 260 operations across the U.S, providing dedicated contract carriage and supply chain services, according to a company news release.
