Eastbound Interstate 94 in St. Paul, Mn., will be closed from Dec. 12 through Dec. 15 for work on the Lafayette bridge. The closure will stretch from Interstate 35 East to Mounds Boulevard while crews continue to work on the southbound Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge.

The road will close at 10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 and open on Monday, Dec. 15 at 5 a.m. To prep for the road work, the ramp from 6th Street in Lowertown St. Paul to eastbound Interstat 94 will be closed at 9 a.m on Friday and reopen on Monday morning.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is suggesting that drivers use northbound Interstate 35 East to eastbound Interstate 694 to bypass the closure. The Lafayette Bridge will remain open as will the ramp from northbound Highway 52 to eastbound Interstate 94.

The project on the Lafayette Bridge will improve transportation, provide safer crossing of the Mississippi River in St. Paul and reduce congestion in the area, according to the DOT. For project updates, click here.
