Chrysler Group is recalling an estimated 33,443 vehicles, including 2014 Ram ProMaster vans and Dodge Grand Caravans, as part of two separate recalls addressing false warnings from tire pressure monitoring (TPM) systems.

The automaker said it is unaware of any injuries or accidents associated with the TPM problems.

The first recall covers an estimated 23,053 2014 model-year Ram ProMaster full-size vans in the U.S. To remedy the problem, dealer service technicians will upgrade software that helps TPM sensors recognize from which tire the pressure data is coming. Without this capability, a warning light may falsely signal that tire pressure is low. Further, if the light is already activated, the system may not properly alert vehicle occupants if tire pressure actually becomes low, Chrysler said.

The second recall affects an estimated 10,390 2014-MY Jeep Wrangler SUVs and Dodge Grand Caravan/Chrysler Town & Country minivans in the U.S. For this campaign, technicians will reconfigure the TPM module to disable a test mode that a supplier inadvertently left on following shipment. When installed in a vehicle, a TPM module configured this way may not get accurate tire-pressure readings, which could result in a false warning.

Vehicle owners will be notified in November when they can schedule these repairs. There will be no charge for these services. Chrysler Group’s customer information center can be reached at (800) 853-1403.
