Canadian truckload carrier C.A.T. Inc. will lease 100 sleeper tractors from Ryder System powered by compressed natural gas, Ryder has announced.

Ryder's trucks will replace nearly one-third of the C.A.T. (formerly Canadian American Transportation) fleet of 325 vehicles. As part of the agreement, Ryder will also service the CNG vehicles at its Montreal facility that's now being upgraded to comply with natural gas standards.

C.A.T. will use the dedicated CNG trucks in its delivery fleet that travels from Montreal to Laredo, Texas. The carrier serves corporations in the automotive, food, beverage, consumer packaged goods and electronic industries.

C.A.T. has been leasing trucks from Ryder for the past eight years. The natural gas fleet is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 2,564 metric tons.
