TCA, GRAPEVIEN, TX – ALK Technologies and Omnitracs announced at the Truckload Carriers Association meeting that ALK’s RouteSync and CoPilot FleetPortal would be available later this year for Omnitrac’s mobile computing platforms.

ALK’s RouteSync helps ensure drivers follow planned routes and calculates the best way to get a driver back on route once off. CoPilot FleetPortal provides a fleet’s back office with an historical visualization of route compliance for the whole fleet or individual drivers.

Dan Popkin, ALK’s senior vice president senior vice president enterprise solutions, said the out-of-route miles and fuel usage were critical issues for fleet managers. The integration with Omnitracs’ fleet management platform provides tools for managing these issues.

Vikas Jain, vice president Omnitracs said the integration “fills a gap and gives fleets a really good tool.” Jain said that there could be discrepancies between a route plan developed with a back-office routing application such as PC Miler and the route an onboard navigation application might recommend. He said that when integrated with a mobile communications platform such as Omnitracs, ALK’s RouteSync lets fleet managers know right way there has been a deviation in the route.
