Extremely cold weather in parts of the country has led to some states issuing emergency waivers of federal trucking rules when it comes to hauling different fuels.

In New Hampshire one that was issued earlier has been extended until Jan.11, suspending hours of service rules, for those hauling diesel, gasoline, propane and fuel oil to residential or business customers.  It was extended shortly before the end of last month, when it was originally set to expire.

The move follows recent ones that are still effect when it comes to hauling propane in Mich., Minn. N.J. and Vt. due to shortages.

A current list can be found on the FMCSA website.

The cold weather, dubbed Winter Storm Hercules by The Weather Channel, is expected to keep the Midwest, Northeast and parts of the South shivering through early next week. That could result in more waivers being issues or current ones being extended.
