Trucking company Schneider National has shut down its San Antonio sand hauling operation, according to the San Antonio Business Journal.

Some 76 jobs are being eliminated, most of them drivers, but the are reportedly able to relocate elsewhere.

“Earlier this year, we decided that the opportunities in the sand portion of our energy transportation business are not as strong as anticipated and ceased offering transportation services to this market,” Janet Bonkowski, spokesperson for Schneider, told the newspaper in an emailed statement.

The sand is used in hydraulic fracturing operations, also know as fracking, a process to remove oil and gas deep below the earth’s surface.
