The Wisconsin State Energy Office is partnering with Wisconsin Clean Cities to host a “Driving the Green Highway” workshop and expo for trucking fleets Friday, Nov. 1 in Pewaukee, Wis. It will focus on idle reduction technologies and funding opportunities.

The event will be followed by a networking and cocktail reception from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The workshop is free, however registration is required.

The workshop will address: 1) the health, financial and engine impacts of idling, 2) Wisconsin’s statewide efforts to reduce idling, 3) and vehicle technologies and fleet experiences for the trucking industry.

More than 650,000 long-haul heavy-duty trucks idle overnight for required rest stops at least some fraction of the time, using more than 685 million gallons of fuel per year. Idling can be reduced without compromising driver comfort or vehicle equipment operations, and provide significant fuel savings.
