Impco Automotive, a division of Impco Technologies Inc. and a subsidiary of
Fuel Systems Solutions Inc., will assist with the production of the OEM bi-fuel compressed natural gas crew cab configuration of the 2014 model year Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD pickups.

Impco Automotive's proprietary CNG bi-fuel system will be integrated into the pickups at the company's production facility in Union City, Ind. These crew cab configurations are available for order today.

GM and Impco have targeted ship to commerce notification for mid-2013, which will initiate Impco's shipping of the crew cab trucks in the third and fourth quarters of 2013.

"Orders for GM's CNG existing conversions of 610 van and 911 pickups have exceeded 2,000 units in 2013. The crew cab order is expected to increase volumes by 400 to 500 units in 2013. While the additional units will not represent material revenue, GM's decision to add more models to our DOEM conversion program is a positive indication that fleets are looking for broader availability of OEM vehicles equipped to operate on clean burning, plentiful CNG," said Marco Seimandi, Fuel Systems' Automotive Executive Sales and Marketing Director.

As an extension of GM's manufacturing process, Impco Automotive installs the single-tank bi-fuel CNG system using GM's OEM processes and standards. The entire gaseous fuel system adheres to GM's strict quality, durability and safety testing requirements. Once the fuel system is in place, GM delivers these trucks to a dealer or to an up-fitter for customer-ordered modifications.
