Spot Market Loads Increase, Rates Don’t Improve
The number of loads available on one spot market board has surged over the previous week but rates are stagnant during the same time. DAT/Transcore reports May 12 through 18 the number of loads available in the U.S. increased 6.7% from the previous week.

The number of loads available posted healthy gains in the van and reefer categories, moving up 9.9% and 11%, respectively. Flatbed loads increased much less, at just 1.5%.
Rates either held their own from the previous week or fell. Rates for flatbeds unchanged for an average of $2.15 per mile. Vans and reefers saw a decline of 1.1% to $1.79 per mile and 1.4% to $2.12 per mile, respectively. This came as fuel prices during the period increase 0.6%.
