Food Paradise to Feature Iowa 80 Kitchen
Iowa 80 Kitchen, the full-service restaurant inside the the Iowa 80 TA Truckstop, located in Walcott, Iowa, will be featured on the Travel Channel’s show Food Paradise, being renamed Truck Stop Paradise for this episode.
Iowa 80 Kitchen, the full-service restaurant inside the the Iowa 80 TA Truckstop, located in Walcott, Iowa, will be featured on the Travel Channel’s show Food Paradise, being renamed Truck Stop Paradise for this episode.
The episode will feature food at truckstops. Filming took place on Aug. 20, 2012. The film crew spoke with customers about their favorite Iowa 80 dishes as well as why they keep coming back.
“Drivers appreciate the home cooked meals they can order from our menu. They also enjoy the buffet and the wide variety of salads we offer,” says Bill Peel, Iowa 80 Kitchen operator.
The Peel Family has been running the Iowa 80 Kitchen restaurant since partnering with the Moon Family, who owns and operates the truckstop, in 1964. “I remember riding with my dad out to this piece of land in Walcott to meet with Bill Moon, and thinking to myself that this seemed crazy. Bill and my dad came to an agreement and I must say that I’m glad they did,” laughs Peel.
The episode will air on the Travel Channel on March 27 at 9 p.m. CDT.
