Truckers from all over the United States and Canada are set to participate in the World's Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics in 2012.

The Illinois Convoy, set for Saturday, Oct. 6, will start at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park. Trucks will be escorted by law enforcement in a convoy for approximately 22 miles along I-80 and I-57 before returning to the starting location.

Convoy participants will be recognized at an ending celebration at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, which will include food, live music and the opportunity to partner with Special Olympics athletes playing tailgate-themed games.

In 2011, more than $45,000 was raised for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.

Participants must be a semi-truck, truck/trailer combination, fire truck, dump truck, flat bed, bus, large tow truck or large box truck. All trucks must be 10,000 pounds GVW or larger.
