Epes Transport System, a North Carolina-based truckload carrier, announced an enhancement to its existing pay package.

Effective April 1, the new Northeast premium pay enhancement gives drivers an additional 7 cents per loaded mile for every load delivering to Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

"We understand the added pressure of driving in some of the challenging and high stress environments that often present themselves in the Northeast," says Britt Colley, president for Epes Transport System.

This new Northeast premium pay will be applicable only on loaded dispatch miles to inbound destinations in the states listed above. Drivers will receive a separate line on their payroll settlements detailing the addition of the Northeast premium pay on qualifying trips taken during that pay period.

Epes Transport was recently named one of the top nominees for the Truckload Carriers Association's 2011 Best Fleets to Drive For.
