The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has posted a new document on its website illustrating 20 logbook examples under the new hours of service rules
that were published Dec. 27. Most of the new rules are scheduled to go into effect in July 2013, but a new definition of off-duty time and a definition of egregious violations went into effect yesterday.

The examples include logbooks with no violations, then logbooks with violations of the rules such as the daily driving limit and 14-hour driving window, the 30-minute break provision, the 34-hour restart provision and sleeper berth use.

You can find the document here.

The American Trucking Associations and safety advocacy groups are filing suit against the new HOS regulations.
