Detroit Diesel Corp. delivered its 100,000th DD platform engine to Southern Refrigerated Transport, a subsidiary of Covenant Transportation Group.

The engine - a Detroit DD15 in a Freightliner Cascadia - was presented Jan. 19 at a special ceremony at Southern Refrigerated Transport's Texarkana, Ark., headquarters.

Longtime customer Covenant, which in addition to SRT includes Star Transportation and Covenant Transport, is one of the largest truckload carriers in the United States. More than 70% of the company's fleet is Freightliner tractors with Detroit engines.

The production of the 100,000th engine was marked in late 2011 with a celebration at Detroit Diesel's manufacturing facility.
