The Rhode Island Trucking Association will be celebrating its 80th Anniversary on November 15th, 2011 at the RITA Annual Dinner.

For 80 years, RITA has followed its mission to enhance the motor carrier and transportation industry's image, efficiency, and productivity through promoting highway safety, providing valuable information and educational programs, as well as providing a legislative voice for its members. Though the business climate in Rhode Island has gone through many cycles, the one constant has been trucking. RITA has been committed to helping its members navigate the difficult economic times, and supports its members wherever and whenever needed in these ever changing conditions.

The 80th Anniversary Event will be held at the Venus de Milo in Swansea, MA. The evening will include an appearance by American Trucking Associations President and CEO, Bill Graves.

"As we celebrate the 80 year history of the Rhode Island Trucking Association, it seems fitting that we salute the dedication of members and volunteers who have served to perpetuate this organization through good times and bad," said Christopher Maxwell, president of the Rhode Island Trucking Association. "That due to the collective efforts of many, we will continue to meet the challenges that face the industry today as in was the case in 1931 when RITA was founded. This collective effort at all levels will allow the wheels will continue to roll for all those who work in this great industry."
