The Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association has elected its 2012 slate of officers and governors. Jack Shaffer, president and CEO of Bergstrom, has been re-elected for a second term and is 2012 chairman of the HDMA Board of Directors.


Shaffer has served on the HDMA board since 2005 and has been a member of its executive committee since 2008. He plays an active role in the HDMA board's strategic planning group and has been a strong participant in the association's affairs.

He is the primary driver behind the association's additional emphasis on the off-highway industry, in addition to HDMA's traditional on-highway focus. A seven-year member of the Heavy Duty Business Forum, where he also serves as a board director, Shaffer was elected to the MEMA board of directors at its fall meeting.

In addition to Shaffer, other returning HDMA officers for 2012 include:
- Vice Chair - Patrick Cavanagh, president and CEO, Williams Controls
- 2nd Vice Chair - Timothy Myers, president, Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products
- Immediate Past Chairman Denny Michels, president and CEO of Link Manufacturing

New to the board in 2012 will be:
- Director Elected - Thomas Gosnell, CEO of Nelson Global Products

Elected to additional terms on the HDMA board are:
- Tim Musgrave, president and CEO, Pressure Systems International
- Ed Oeltjen, President, Consolidated Metco
- Ronald Parker, chairman, president and CEO of Indianhead Industries
- Joseph A. Plomin, Vice President, Trucks, Meritor

Continuing to serve on the HDMA board are:
- John Coll, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Vehicle Group, Eaton Corporation
- Wendy Earp, vice president and CFO, MEMA
- Gary Gerstenslager, president and CEO, Hendrickson
- Timothy Kraus, president and COO, HDMA
