Company drivers and owner operators may nominate their trucking companies as one of the Truckload Carriers Association's (TCA) Best Fleets to Drive For, an annual evaluation of the best employers in the trucking industry.

Best Fleets to Drive For is open to all for-hire trucking companies with 10 or more trucks, whether TCA members or not. The nominees will be evaluated against a broad range of criteria reflecting current best practices in human resources. Nominations must originate from one company driver or owner operator affiliated with the carrier.

Initial information provided by the nominator will be further corroborated through interviews with the company's management and an additional random sampling of the company's drivers. The top 20 finishers will be identified as Best Fleets to Drive For, and the highest scoring fleets in each of the Company Driver and Owner Operator categories will be named that category's overall winner.

CarriersEdge, the leading provider of online driver quality improvement solutions, will conduct the survey for TCA. As it surveys participating companies, it hopes to uncover numerous carrier success stories in areas such as benefits, professional development, driver and community support, safety record, and company culture. This information will be compiled and distributed to TCA members and other interested parties so that all may learn from the innovative ideas.

"We're into our fourth contest now, and I predict that the competition is going to be stiff. We already have more fleets nominated now than we did for the whole program last year," said Mark Murrell, president of CarriersEdge. "More than half of the companies are first-time participants, so it's not just the same people coming back each time. From companies with 15 trucks to 15,000, we're looking forward to any and all nominations."

"I want to stress to drivers that their company's recruitment efforts get a big boost when a fleet is nominated (and possibly selected) as a Best Fleet," notes Gary Salisbury, TCA's chairman and the president and chief executive officer of Fikes Truck Line, Inc., Hope, Ark. "With more drivers, your company has the capability to haul more freight. Translates into more profits and a stable job future for you in the long run. It can all start with one simple nomination, so please get online now!"
