August heavy-duty truck sales were up 14.5% in August from July, reaching 15,085 vehicles, the highest monthly sales this year, according to Ward's Communications.

The 2,200-vehicle increase was the second largest month-to-month jump this year. March gained 3,298 vehicles on February, but sales still only totaled 13,010 units. On the whole, the year has been up and down, but rising on average.

Year-to-date sales barely broke the 100,000-truck barrier. That's only 7,114 trucks short of 2010 total sales. Barring the catastrophic, equipment manufacturers should comfortably outdo last year's performance.
