Asbury Automotive Group, one of the largest automotive retail and service companies in the U.S., has fully exited the heavy truck business with the sale of its truck franchises.
Asbury sold its International, Hino, Isuzu, UD, IC Bus and Workhorse franchises to Rush Truck Centers of Georgia, a subsidiary of Rush Enterprises. It sold its Peterbilt franchise, which includes the dealership in Kennesaw, Ga., to Peterbilt Motors Co.
Asbury had operated commercial truck and bus dealerships in the greater Atlanta area under the "Nalley Motor Trucks" name.
The acquisition expands Rush Enterprises' contiguous network of Rush Truck Centers in the Southeast and results in the company operating 65 Rush Truck Center locations in 14 states. In addition, Rush will expand its existing truck center in Smyrna, Ga., which currently sells Hino, UD and Isuzu trucks, to include International heavy- and medium-duty trucks and buses manufactured by IC Bus. The four locations in Atlanta will operate as part of the company's Navistar Division.
Peterbilt of Atlanta, LLC, a Peterbilt Motors affiliated company, is now the exclusive Peterbilt dealer in Atlanta, providing heavy- and medium-duty truck sales, parts and accessories and service support to customers in northern and mid-state Georgia.
Peterbilt of Atlanta offers a full lineup of new and pre-owned Peterbilt trucks and has 14 service bays staffed with factory-trained technicians certified to perform maintenance on any brand of heavy or medium duty vehicle. The facility also maintains an extensive parts inventory and has a team of mobile road service technicians and parts delivery vehicles to provide service and parts support to customers throughout the Atlanta area.
Asbury, headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, currently operates 81 retail auto stores, encompassing 100 franchises for the sale and servicing of 29 different brands of American, European and Asian automobiles.
