The Dart Network of companies has purchased assets from Fil-Mor Express, a dry van truckload carrier based in Cannon Falls, Minn. that discontinued service on December 17.
Dart and Fil-Mor operate in many of the same freight corridors.

"We heard the news about Fil-Mor from a customer," said Dave Oren, Dart president. "As soon as I heard the news I called Richard Olson to see if he would sell any of the company's assets. I was interested in keeping the people and service intact, if we could."

Dart is not planning to purchase Fil-Mor Express. Highway Sales, Inc., a leasing company in the Dart Network, has purchased Fil-Mor's 153 day-cab tractors and Dart purchased a portion of its trailer fleet. Dartco, Inc., an employee-driver fleet that contracts its trucks and drivers to Dart, is recruiting Fil-Mor's 200 employee drivers. Dart also offered positions to several of Fil-Mor's office staff.

Many former Fil-Mor drivers have completed applications for certification and taking DOT physicals and drug screens. Orientation classes are scheduled for this week at eight locations across the country.

"We look forward to a smooth transition, including a continuation of high quality service to our customers," Oren said.
