The American Trucking Associations is encouraging carriers and industry associations across the country to get involved with its annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, coming up Sept. 19-25.

The event is aimed at celebrating and recognizing professional truck drivers for their hard work throughout the year.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week recognizes the integral role drivers serve in delivering everything we need safely and efficiently. According to the ATA, there are 3.4 million professional truck drivers delivering life's essentials across the country every day.

All over the country, events will take place to honor the professional driver and remind the public that everything they rely on daily is delivered by a truck driver.

Companies can also participate through ATA's video contest. ATA seeks amateur videos on why professional truck drivers are needed. Entries can be produced with simple cell phone or home video cameras, with the emphasis on creativity and message, rather than production values. The deadline for contest submissions is Sept. 13.

ATA also encourages companies to get involved by submitting an Op-Ed to your state or local papers; submitting a news release on your NTDAW plans; getting involved with state trucking associations; and sending photos to ATA for posting on the NTDAW website.
