FLS Transportation, a privately held, asset-based provider of transportation and logistics services, has joined the CargoNet program, which helps prevent cargo theft and increases recovery rates through secure and controlled information sharing between theft victims, their business partners and law enforcement.

"Our alliance with CargoNet adds a crucial layer to our current security program, insulating further our clients' cargo from the threat of theft," said Domenic Di Girolamo, CEO of FLS. "This is just one example of the proactive measures we are taking to ensure that shipments entrusted to FLS reach their destination on time and intact."

A division of Verisk's ISO Crime Analytics unit, CargoNet is centered on a national database and information-sharing system managed by crime analysts and subject-matter experts. CargoNet applies an integrated, layered approach that exploits the weakness of cargo thieves at multiple points. The program includes integrated databases, a theft alert system, task force and investigations support, a tractor-trailer theft deterrence program, the TruckStopWatch program, driver education and incentives, secondary-market monitoring and interdictions, crime trend analysis and loss control services, and training and education.

"We are well down the road on this initiative to fundamentally improve supply chain security thanks to the support of industry leaders such as FLS," said Maurizio Scrofani, managing director of CargoNet. "Having thought leaders like FLS join CargoNet promotes the efforts required to combat the problem of supply chain interruption."
