The National Automobile Dealers Association University's Learning Hub will offer a week-long training on heavy truck dealership management on Aug. 23 through 27 at its headquarters in McLean, Va.


The hands-on classes will be taught by experts in truck service, body shop and lease and rental operations.

The sessions include:

* Advanced Heavy Truck Service Management, a four and a half day seminar, designed to help students define their dealership's monthly sales and gross potential, calculate all available hours to sell and learn if profit and expense percentages are within ATD guidelines. Robert Atwood, NADA-ATD Academy instructor, and Allen Phibbs, a professional advisor with Keith Ely & Associates, will provide service managers and staff with the tools needed to increase the department's gross and net profit, increase service advisor effectiveness and develop leadership in service operations.

* Fixed Operations - Heavy-Truck Body Shop Management, will be offered Aug. 23 to 25. This class will cover sales and gross potential, available hours to sell and profits and expenses against guides. It will be facilitated by Mark Martincic of Keith Ely & Associates.

* Heavy-Truck Dealership Lease & Rental Operations Management, will be offered Aug. 25 to 27. Students will examine potential sales and gross, expenses and profits against guidelines and the effectiveness of rate sheets. Jeff Mayer, a professional advisor with Keith Ely & Associates, will work with students to develop an action plan to increase net profit, profile prospects and build optimum rate sheets for leases, contract maintenance and rentals.
