The Transportation Security Administration's Highway and Motor Carrier Division is conducting a series of workshops for local hazardous material carriers and shippers, local first responders, as well as any operation involved in the transport of hazardous materials by highway.

These workshops will present and discuss recommended security action items and are intended to enhance transportation security of hazardous materials by highway. Some of the topics to be covered include security planning and training, personnel security, unauthorized access, and en-route security.

The workshops are being held at locations with a high volume of hazardous material transported by highway throughout the U.S., as determined by U.S. Department of Transportation registration data and geographical considerations.
TSA hopes to hold these one-day workshops in all specified areas for two consecutive days during 2010 and 2011.
