Diesel averaged $2.928 a gallon this week, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration. Over the last five weeks, diesel has slipped a total of 19.9 cents.
The Central Atlantic region saw the highest prices this week, averaging $3.067 a gallon, followed by the West Coast at $3.054 a gallon. Diesel was lowest in the Gulf Coast region, where prices averaged $2.874 a gallon. The Midwest and Lower Atlantic regions tied for the second lowest prices in the country, at $2.892 a gallon.
Meanwhile, crude oil was up Monday, following the release of Europe's April industrial production numbers, which were better than expected, according to reports by Bloomberg.
Crude gained 1.8 percent to settle at $75.12 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, according to reports by The Wall Street Journal.
