The California Trucking Association announced the winners of its inaugural SuperTech Competition, which was held June 5 and 6 at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, Calif.

On the first day of the competition, about 20 to 24 technicians from Southern California competed in hands-on tests, and the four winners went on to compete against the winners of the Northern California competition, held in April in Stockton, Calif.

Of the Southern California winners, William Moran of Scully Transportation came in first place, followed by Ed Sanchez of High Desert Truck/LA Freightliner, Roy Quintana with High Desert Truck/LA Freightliner, and Martin Reed with Johnson Power Systems.

Those representing Northern California included Gadihel Flores with Swift Transportation, Larry Parker with Walmart, Jose Flores with Swift Transportation, and Alex Johnson with Gordon Trucking.

In the finals, Quintana was the Grand Champion, who'll compete in the Technology & Maintenance Council's SuperTech, held Sept. 20-23 in Raleigh, N.C. Parker came in second, followed by Sanchez.
