Averitt Express has expanded its flatbed operation to include a current fleet of more than 50 flatbeds, with about 50 more on order.
Due to customer demand, the carrier says expansion was needed from the initial 12-flatbed trailer operation, which was launched earlier this year.

Averitt has been offering flatbed services in markets including Birmingham, Ala.; Atlanta; Cincinnati; Louisville, Ky.; and Nashville, Tenn.

"Customer feedback indicated a demand for flatbed services in several areas across our network, so it was a logical line extension for us," said Phil Pierce, Averitt's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "We're excited about the success we've seen thus far, and we're planning for even more growth in the future."

As a result, Averitt is hiring regional flatbed drivers in several locations.
