The Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Associations will hold its 2010 Fall Meeting and TMCSuperTech2010 National Technician Skills Competition from Sept. 20 to 23 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, N.C.
The meeting theme, "Quality Control in Maintenance Operations," will be carried out through technical sessions covering management, training, product selection, regulations and the environment.
The event will feature three full technical sessions including "Cleaning of Diesel Exhaust Particulate Filters," "Economic Forecast for Trucking," and "How the New CSA 2010 Rules Impact Fleet Maintenance Operations."
Study Group technical sessions include:
* How to Develop an Effective Electrical Training Program
* Future Regulations: Are You Ready for EPA SmartWay, CARB and CSA 2010?
* EGR Cooler Cleaning and Maintenance
* APUs, Inverters and In-Cab Power Management
* New Stopping Distance Regulations and Their Effect on Vehicle
Specifications - Part 2
* Breaking Up is Hard to Do: Options for Trailer Disposal
* Is Your Carbon Footprint About to Step on You?
* Sensor Technology for Predictive Maintenance
* Automatic Transmission Fluids: Why Do They Differ?
* Cab Entry and Egress on Specialty and Vocational Vehicles
The annual meeting will also include the usual Fleet Operator's Forum, Fleet Talk and Shop Talk sessions, which will give maintenance and equipment professionals the opportunity to seek redress to equipment problems and exchange information related to those issues.
More than 100 Task Forces will continue work on Recommended Practices, Information Reports and Position Papers. TMC's Service Providers Committee will present the technical session "Quality Control: Advantages and Benefits to Both Fleet and Service Providers." The Corrosion Control Action Committee will present "A Look at SAE J2721 Corrosion Testing."
In conjunction with TMCSuperTech2010, there will also be a Technician Training Fair on Sept. 20 and Sept. 23. The training qualifies for National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation continuing education credits.
TMCSuperTech2010 contestants from across the country will attend the PTDC Training Fair, take their qualifying written exams and attend a reception in their honor Sept. 20. The day-long Hands on Skills Challenge will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22. The nation's top truck technicians will be announced Sept. 23 at the TMCSuperTech2010 Awards Luncheon, which is open to both contestants and meeting attendees.
