Three truck drivers who had been contracted to deliver a load of copper for Southwire Corp. in Carrollton, Ga., have stolen the $500,000 worth of copper
, according to reports by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The job was posted on a web site by Jones Trucking, a broker. The three drivers, Andy Torres, Louis Delgato and Raul Camacho won the bid on the load, according to a fax received by Jones Trucking. The drivers claimed to be with LaRolle Transport in Miami Lakes, Fla., The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The three trucks, which had markings for "L Transport," arrived at different times at Southwire, each with a different destination, the paper says. A spokesman for Southwire told the publication that all the paperwork checked out. Southwire had loaded the copper for the drivers.

The trucks did not belong to LaRolle, the company claims.

According to the publication, the loss of the load will be incurred by the broker, not Southwire.
