Intermodal company Hub Group reported increased income, earnings and revenue for the first quarter, as intermodal volumes were up 16 percent

Net income was $8.7 million, up from about $6.2 million for the first quarter 2009. Earnings per share landed at 23 cents, a 35 percent boost over the year-ago quarter. Total revenue was up 19 percent to $417 million compared to $352 million in the first quarter of 2009.
Intermodal revenue gained 17 percent in the first quarter to $287 million. Truck brokerage revenue increased 23 percent to $83 million, while logistics revenue rose 23 percent to $47 million.
"We have started 2010 with a good first quarter," said David P. Yeager, chairman and CEO. "All three business lines showed solid growth, and we look forward to taking this positive momentum into the quarters ahead."
