NC2 Global, the global joint venture between Caterpillar Inc. and Navistar International Corporation, will launch Cat on-road trucks in Australia this year.

The products, the Cat CT 610 and CT 630, are designed for the Australian market and will be assembled at NC2's manufacturing facility in Tullamarine, Victoria.

"These Cat on-road trucks have a high degree of durability and reliability that make them uniquely suited to the Australian market," said Jeff Tyzack, general manager of sales and marketing for NC2 in Australia.

Both models are conventional prime movers and will be available in day-cab and extended-cab options. The CT 610, which will be available first, will be powered by the 470-horsepower Cat C13 engine. With a bumper to back-of-cab measurement of 2.72 metres, it will be targeted to 19-metre applications and has a capacity of up to 57 tonnes.

The CT 630 will be powered by the 550-horsepower Cat C15 engine. With a BBC measurement of 3.10 metres, it is suitable for B-double on-highway roadtrain applications and will be available in both 72-tonne and 90-tonne options.

The products will be sold and serviced by a network of Cat dealers who have been selected based on market coverage, service orientation, experience with servicing Cat engines, and commitment to the on-highway truck market.

Initially, NC2's Australian dealer network will begin with 54 locations, including six sales, parts and service locations and 48 parts and service locations.
