Volunteers from Waste Management, Inc., the American Trucking Associations and others in the trucking industry are helping to clear the wreaths placed in remembrance of U.S. fallen soldiers during the Wreaths Across America campaign this past holiday season.

On Saturday, volunteers arrived at Arlington National Cemetery to begin clearing the wreaths originally laid in December.

"Wreaths Across America has been a wonderful opportunity for the industry to come together and spread joy during the holiday season," said Lisa Kardell, director of public affairs at Waste Management. "We are honored to participate in this event and to be able to help maintain the cemetery in remembrance of our fallen soldiers."

This past December, hundreds of trucks departed from Harrington, Maine, carrying deliveries of handmade wreaths as part of the Wreaths Across America program. Wreaths Across America organized volunteers from diverse backgrounds and laid wreaths at various state and national cemeteries. These decorations served to celebrate and honor the sacrifices of American soldiers.
