The MEMA Information Services Council (MIS Council) has changed its name to the MEMA Technology Council (MTC) to reflect the group's expanded focus to include business processes, business intelligence, forecasting and broader data management areas.

"In today's market, technology is integrated with so many operations areas that the MTC needs to grow beyond its previous focus on IT," said Ray Nicholas, the current MTC chairman and vice president of information technology at Standard Motor Products. "The MTC board anticipates reaching new companies and new employees within MEMA member companies with the expanded focus."

The MTC's mission is to provide a forum for networking and the exchange of best practices focusing on current and emerging technologies that support members' efforts to reduce costs and improve efficiencies, Nicholas said.

Other key areas of focus for the MTC will include supply chain management, compliance and standards.

Along with the new name, the group has launched a new web site, www.mematechnology.org. The site offers more information, clearer navigation, a new design and links to member-only content.
