The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has scheduled its fourth listening session on the truck driver hours of service rulemaking in a location near truck parking.
The fourth session is set Jan. 28 in Davenport, Iowa,

Earlier this month, the agency announced the dates of the first three sessions, to be held in Arlington, Va., Dallas and Los Angeles.

Many truckers complained that none of the sessions was accessible for those driving big rigs. This fourth session is within walking distance of a Flying J Travel Plaza.

The sessions are designed to hear comments on the rule and will tackle such topics as rest and on-duty time, sleeper berth use and the effect of the current hours of service on loading and unloading times.

The newest listening session will take place:

* Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010
Comfort Inn Hotel and Suites in Davenport, Iowa
1 p.m.-9 p.m. Central time

For more information on the listening sessions, including several questions on possible alternatives to the current HOS requirements, instructions for participating by teleconference, and other ways to comment, visit the FMCSA website at www.fmcsa.dot.gov.
