Appian Logistics Software has acquired TruckStops North America from MicroAnalytics, a move designed to strengthen Appian's position as a provider of automated fleet routing and GPS solutions for the transportation industry.

Founded in 1983, MicroAnalytics develops computerized fleet routing. The company has over 2,800 installations of the TruckStops system worldwide. The company operates offices in Arlington, Va., and Toronto. MicroAnalytics will continue to market and sell the Bustops and OptiSite systems in North America and the TruckStops system outside of North America. United Kingdom customers will continue to be served by MapMechanics, who have been the exclusive TruckStops provider in the U.K. for nearly 20 years.

"Our companies have a strong tradition of providing innovative technologies that help transportation companies streamline route planning and reduce operating costs," said Mike Kositzky, Appian president. "This transaction allows Appian to expand its reach to a larger audience of fleet operators in North America."
