Freight availability on the spot market fell 4.4 percent in November from October, a better-than-seasonal result, according to TransCore's market research.
However, freight volumes were up 65 percent on a year-over-year basis, a reflection of the improving trend in the second half of 2009 and to the weakness of the fourth quarter of 2008.

When comparing the month-over-month change, volumes were down 37 percent from October to November of 2008, due to upheaval in the credit markets. Volumes declined by an average of 13 percent in the previous two years.

TransCore expects the best combinations of high freight volumes and favorable inbound-to-outbound load ratios to come from Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri and Minnesota.
