The Truckload Carriers Association is holding an upcoming webcast covering shipper contract demands that cause problems for carriers and brokers
. The webcast will be held Dec. 10 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Eastern time.

The webcast is aimed at educating CEOs, risk managers and contract officers on the demanding contract terms from shippers that can create greater risks and more liability than a carrier or broker is required to assume. The discussion will be lead by Henry Seaton, Esq., of Seaton & Husk, a transportation law firm.

Some of the demands to be covered include shippers' right to "reject it, crush it, and dump it" and offset the value of the affected freight against your charges; categorizing a broker as a "transportation service provider" that is responsible for its carrier's safety duties; and indemnification for everything, including the shipper's own negligence. The webcast will also touch on the demand that a broker secure its carrier's release from recourse against the shipper.
