Through a new deal between Xata Corporation and Digi International, Digi will supply select on-truck hardware to support Xata's onboard communications technology, effective immediately.

Minnetonka, Minn.-based Digi develops products and solutions to connect and securely manage local or remote electronic devices over the network or via the web. Minneapolis-based Xata provides software and professional services to manage fleet operations.

"This partnership leverages Digi's strength, allowing Xata to focus more specifically on fleet performance and optimization software-as-a-service applications for the trucking industry," said Tom Flies, senior vice president of product management at Xata.

Digi will offer iDigi, a range of its cellular and satellite communications products and services, to meet Xata's technology and connectivity needs for the for-hire and private fleet trucking marketplaces. The relationship is expected to expand over time, as Xata enhances its portfolio of communications, navigation and fleet performance software applications.

"Xata is able to leverage Digi's evolving wireless hardware and device management infrastructure to remain in front of the market and offer significant value when combined with Xata's applications and services," said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Digi International.
