The Truckers Helper, a provider of business management software to the transportation industry, is merging with Layover.com, an online service.

The Truckers Helper has been around since 1996, providing owner-operators, company drivers and small fleets with business management tools. John and Sheila Ewing established the company originally to meet their own needs as owner-operators. Now, the company boasts 30,000 users.

Layover.com was also established in 1996, and has been providing online services to owner-operators drivers, trucking families, and employers. The site's services include driver education, family connections, employment opportunities, entertainment features and access to several other affiliate websites.

"Bruce and I are both excited about the possibilities that this merger offers our companies and we're looking forward to rolling out several new services in the near future," said John Ewing, in reference to Bruce Martin, CEO of Layover.com.
