Motorists traveling on the westbound side of Interstate 74 near the U.S. 34 interchange will be stopped on August 25, for about 20 minutes, while those traveling on the eastbound side will be stopped on August 26
, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. The stoppages are being issued to facilitate the removal of the beams from the bridge over I-74.

In addition, the DOT will close the ramp going from eastbound U.S. 34 to westbound I-74 and the ramp going from westbound U.S. 34 to eastbound I-74 on August 25 and 26, respectively. The state expects the work to begin around 8 a.m. and last through each day.

While the work and related traffic stoppages are weather dependent, the DOT recommends travelers plan accordingly, slow down and use extreme caution in these areas.
