Telematics Update has honored Daimler Trucks North American with its Best Telematics Service & Application for Commercial Vehicles award for Daimler's new RunSmart Predictive Cruise system.

Developed by Daimler together with Navteq - a global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation - RunSmart Predictive Cruise can increase fuel economy when operating on rolling terrain.

Using GPS and ADAS attributes in the Navteq map, the truck evaluates the upcoming road profile more than one mile in advance and determines the most fuel efficient vehicle speed.
"This award further recognizes the importance of developing and introducing cutting-edge solutions that help enhance fuel efficiency," said Derek Rotz, manager, advanced engineering NAFTA for Daimler Trucks North America.

RunSmart Predictive Cruise is now available as an option for a Detroit Diesel DD15-equipped Freightliner Cascadia with a 72-inch raised roof.
